Leibovitch Moni
Born 1946 Sofia, Bulgaria
Concentration and precision may be seen clearly in his paintings, created through a technique requiring a discipline that leaves very little room for improvisation. The special treatment begins from the earliest stages, as Leibovitch spreads six or seven layers of ground open on the canvas until he obtains the desired smoothness for the underpinning of his foundation colors. Only then does he begin working with acrylic or oils. The unique coloration in the works is obtained through the ten or more semi-transparent layers that intensify the play of light and shade.
